Wer ist PRADA MEINHOFF? Bis vor Kurzem wusste ich auf diese Frage auch noch keine Antwort. Vielleicht ein neuer Club in einer Yuppie-Vorstadt? Nicht ganz: Die Erleuchtung erreichte mich in Form einer EP namens Stress und plötzlich sah ich alles ganz klar und deutlich vor mir! Angepriesen als Mix aus Techno und Punk war ich erstmal skeptisch, wie bei veganem Schnitzel, doch schon nach den ersten 10 Sekunden von Stresswar ich Feuer und Flamme. Dieses Jahr erschien bereits ein ganzes Album, doch es scheint so als hätten Redhead-Han Solo und Chewbacca noch Kapazitäten gehabt. Auch gut, dann gibt es eben im selben Jahr noch eine zweite EP oben drauf. Wer kann, der kann. Zuerst hört man eine rotzige Bassline, dann setzt ein technoider Beat ein und Christin singt wie Nena auf Amphetaminen. Lyrisch etwas an eine Therapiestunde in deiner Stammkneipe angelehnt, geht es um Menschen, die wegen Kleinigkeiten ständig Stress machen und dabei anderen Leuten auf den Sack gehen. Solche Menschen kennt doch wirklich jeder, oder nicht? Der Song geht gut vorwärts und macht Lust, sich wild zur Musik zu bewegen Konzertbesucher-Typus: Der Tänzer. Ich glaube Stress klingt wie Musik, von der Tatort-Regisseure denken, dass sie in dunklen, szenigen Techno-Klubs in Berlin laufen würden. Solche Bilder hatte ich zumindest vor Augen. Hier finde ich den Text ziemlich spannend, teilweise sind da Vintage Photo Booth Huren geile Punchlines dabei, von denen sich andere deutsche Künstler ruhig mal eine Scheibe abschneiden könnten. Gut, gelesen klingt das jetzt weniger geistreich, aber die Art und Weise wie es mir vorgesungen wurde, fand ich inspirierend. Also lass mich! Die Frage können wir uns ja mal für ein Interview im Hinterkopf behalten. Musikalisch ist alles ziemlich simpel gehalten, denn im Prinzip hören wir bei jeder Nummer immer nur programmierte Drums und eine Bassline dazu. Gleichzeitig legen die beiden aber trotz dieser Stumpfheit auch eine gewisse Genialität an den Tag, denn jeder Song hat trotzdem sehr catchige Melodien und das gewisse Etwas. Diese eigene, Vintage Photo Booth Huren Note, die Ecken und Kanten die heutzutage leider bei so vielen Künstlern fehlen und das macht die Musik von PRADA MEINHOFF eben sehr interessant und unterhaltsam zu hören. Mit drei Songs und einer Länge von gerade mal 10 Minuten, ist die EP praktisch wie ein Center Shock Kaugummi für zwischendurch. Sozusagen der Nachbrenner vom Debüt-Album PRADA MEINHOFF.
